There were 4 Williams baptised at East Grinstead & Fletching  

I believe that my 8XG-GF was William baptised 1612 at Fletching by Robert (1573) & Eleanor MANE.

William married (1) Elizabeth WHYTE, (2) Denise (nee DUFFELL)  HYDER of Rotherfield in 1650 at Heathfield (SFHG marr. index)
Land dealings in 1696-1700 connect the HYDERs to John LANGRIDGE

1678 a William buried Rotherfield, will (source: Derald Barham)



John c.1655: baptised at Horsted; I pick him to be the only son born Horsted Keynes of William & Denise

Robert 1687: eldest son born & baptised at Rotherfield (PR seen)

Robert's brother Stephen 1696 is ancestor of Anthony LANGRIDGE (Sandra's husband), Angela Hart and Martha Hooper.  Stephen married Mary SUTHERDEN at Dallington, and baptised 6 children there.

Robert 1687 married Mary WATSON 1713 at Etchingham (PR seen)

1714-18 Dallington, 1720-21- Brightling, 1723-28 Mountfield, 1729-44- Whatlington.(Sandra) 1745-52- Warbleton (land tax)

1753 Robert died Warbleton? land tax became due in April when it was pd. by his widow (source: Sandra Langridge); widow Mary died 1780.



Robert 1714: eldest son born & baptised at Dallington (IGI batch C041191)

Robert1714 a farmer, married Mary TURNER, 1741 at Sedlescombe (SFHG marriage index)

1746-62- Children baptised at Sedlescombe, Salehurst, Bodiam, & Guestling

1767-85- farmer at Ivy Land farm Netherfield Battle (Sandra), served as Headborough, Constable & juryman at Netherfield court manor & was overseer of the poor at Battle vestry meeting

1786-1800- farmer at Henley Down farm Catsfield (Sandra)

James married Elizabeth WREN 1790 at Catsfield, 1792 admitted to Battle Unitarian church (copy of PR entry)

10 children all given middle name L...., it appears only 5 survived.

Levi, Lovell, & Levet emigrated to USA

1836 James died & buried at Peasmarsh (copy of PR entry)

James' sister Mary 1753 married Arthur BARHAM in 1774 at Battle (Derald BARHAM"s ancestor)

1820 Lucy re-baptised in Battle Anglican church, mother is Sarah?

1851 census- Lucy & Edward at Sedlescombe Brickwall with 4 children

1880 Lucy died & buried at Sedlescombe (certificate)
